syllabus and questions

If you have any comments or questions in respect to ANY aspect of the syllabus or blog, then please post the question/comment here. No question is too simple or basic... those are the best questions, usually.

Please practice leaving a comment here even if it's just to say that you've read the syllabus and it's crystal clear.

This is just to let you know that I have read the syllabus and that I have no questions as of yet. I will be sure to post here again if I do. This seems like it's going to be a fun, interesting, and intriguing class and I'm really looking forward to it!

I have read the syllabus, and don't have any questions at this time.. But to maybe start something about the media portion of the comment that I think the media is the biggest problem we have. Cultures are suppose to come together, but the media continues to blow everything out of proportion and scare the public, just because they have nothing good to show they need to make their money somehow.....By showing all the bad I guess....

The syllabus is very clear as to what is expected of us, and I have no questions as of yet. It sounds like a very interesting course and I look forward to learning about these topics.

I have read the syllabus and it is crystal clear. To respond to the media comment, I think it is easy to point fingers at the corruption of our readily available media, but the real issues at hand are far less distinguishable. Economics is the driving force of any modern society, and with economics and media in our thoughts we can begin digging at the root of this corruption.

Ha, Chelsey... I suppose that 'length' is relative :) In this case, though, it's not especially long. Probably 5 or so pages.

Hey Tom, interesting comments about media. We will certainly be examining media processes and how they contribute to representational forms which are, in the end, damaging.

Hi Denise, your point is well made. However, think about how economic processes are inextricably tied to media processes. They work very closely together. For example, the promotion of consumer values would not be so efficacious were it not for the links made in popular culture between products and success and happiness... This is just a very basic example, but it shows their important connection.

I have read the syllabus and I have no questions about it.

I have a question about location of class. Will we use Decary 209? Or, we will use the bigger classroom which we moved last time ?

Thank you,

Susumu Ikeda

Class will meet in the bigger classroom (decary 202) until I hear otherwise from the Registrar (they were checking to see if it was permanently available).

So, see you in 202 tomorrow.

I didn't have any questions about the syllabus. I just figured out how to get on this.

If anyone wants to watch a very intriguing movie covering religion, the 911 scandal, and the legitimacy of our government go to zeitgeistmovie.com and watch it for free.

I've read the syllabus. Looks good. Should be a good class. Didn't really pick up on the reading assignment in time but i know how it works now.

I'm just checking if it's working or not.

Natalia said...

Yes, it is!
Ok, the syllabus was very clear, so I have no questions. The reading material is challenging, however. So many different and very smart people are trying to explain their views on nation, and culture, and narration of the nation that it is hard to keep up with all the information. I had to read it several times to implant it in my brain.
